The Beauty of a Rose Garden

Thank you for stopping by my website. I’m assuming you, like me, think roses are amongst the most beautiful of flowers. My name is Willow May, and my rose garden is my greatest passion. I wanted to write a blog that will help inspire and educate others on the beauty of rose gardens. My rose garden is vast, about an acre in size. I have rose bushes, hybrid roses, trellises with gorgeous climbing roses, mini roses, and more. I am going to share growing tips such as the best time to plant your roses, pruning methods, watering, and feeding. I've also learned what the best growing conditions are as far as sunlight, drainage, and soil types. I hope that reading my blog will help you on your way to having a lovely fragrant rose garden of your own.

5 Ways To Add Extra Security To Your Home During A Family Vacation

It's easy to over pack when planning a family vacation, but there are a lot of items that have to left at home. Instead of getting anxious or worrying about these items, you can enlist of the services for a locksmith to add extra protection. By adding a few extra security measures, your home will not be vulnerable to break-ins while you are on a family vacation. By the time you get back to the home, everything will be just as you left it. The following five upgrades are ideal for vacationing families, but can also be extended for daily use in the home.

Cylinder Deadbolt Locks

The doors on your home offer the best chance for proper security. When working with a locksmith service, you can upgrade the locks on the entry doors to make them hard to break open. One of the strongest locks available is a cylinder deadbolt lock. Also referred to as a "Jimmy Proof" lock, these locks can help connect the door to a sturdy frame and prevent many people from just breaking the door down.

A locksmith can install a deadbolt lock at both the top and the bottom of a door. With the center lock near the handle, this gives the door strength and protection at all the access points. Along with installing the locks on the door, a locksmith can help reinforce the frame to ensure the deadbolts are securely attached.

Lock Bumping Prevention

Another way people break open standard door locks is with a process known as lock bumping. A shaved key is inserted into a lock and then slammed hard to force the lock open. To help prevent this tactic, a locksmith can install locks with technology that blocks the bumping from occurring. Instead of opening the lock, the bumping process will either break the key or force the lock to hold strong.

This is an extra step that is a great addition to the deadbolt installation.

High Pitch Window Alarms

Another access point on your home are the windows. Even when locked, windows can be smashed and unlocked in a matter of seconds. Instead of keeping first floor windows vulnerable, a locksmith can help you install high-pitch window alarms. These window alarms will blare out a high pitched noise that acts as a natural deterrent for potential criminals.

The alarms can also act as a security measure if your home is located close to neighbors. While on vacation, the high-pitched sounds can alert neighbors who can be aware of the situation and call proper authorities on your behalf.

Key Code Changes

Many homes rely on front door key codes for access. In the past, you may have given out this code to other family or friends that needed access to the home. If you do not trust these members while you're away for an extended time, then a locksmith can help you set up new codes. Not only can new codes be issued, but they can also set up a system with timed or temporary codes.

These codes can be given to a dog walker or a trusted family member that is watching the home. Once you are back from vacation, the codes will expire, cutting off their access from the home until it is needed again.

Device Locks

Add a little protection in your home by locking up the biggest valuables. Instead of packing away computers, video game consoles, or televisions, you can properly secure them using device locks. A locksmith can help you set up cable device locks that attach to different areas of a home like a desk or permanent fixture. The cable locks prevent the items from just being lifted from the home and taken with ease.

Device locks can be set using a key system or a number-based system that is similar to a bike lock.

Once all of these systems are in place, it's easy to implement them for each new vacation that you take. Work with a locksmith from a business like Top Security Locksmiths to answer any security questions that you may have.
