The Beauty of a Rose Garden

Thank you for stopping by my website. I’m assuming you, like me, think roses are amongst the most beautiful of flowers. My name is Willow May, and my rose garden is my greatest passion. I wanted to write a blog that will help inspire and educate others on the beauty of rose gardens. My rose garden is vast, about an acre in size. I have rose bushes, hybrid roses, trellises with gorgeous climbing roses, mini roses, and more. I am going to share growing tips such as the best time to plant your roses, pruning methods, watering, and feeding. I've also learned what the best growing conditions are as far as sunlight, drainage, and soil types. I hope that reading my blog will help you on your way to having a lovely fragrant rose garden of your own.

3 Easy Ways To Make Your Home Surfaces Shine

If you invest in home cleaning services every one or two weeks, then you likely look forward to the squeaky clean and shiny surfaces that you see all over the house. Not only do professional cleaners know how to clean properly, but they know how to make sure that even the trickiest areas of your kitchen and bathroom remain clean for days. Once the luster wears off, you are probably left cleaning on your own until the next home service appointment. Well, you do not need to struggle to keep things shiny and nice. Read through the tips below instead.

Stainless Steel Fixtures, Sinks, and Counters

Stainless steel sinks and fixtures in the home are difficult to keep clean. Smudges and water marks are two culprits that can mar the surface of the metal. To keep these marks from appearing, consider wiping surfaces with a rust-protection lubricating spray. These sprays contain a waterproof silicone material that creates a barrier across the surface of steel and other metals. The spray is generally used to protect tools, car parts, bolts, and nuts. However, the spray can also create a similar coating across your kitchen and bathroom surfaces.

Spray the silicone spray on a lint-free cotton cloth and wipe down the surfaces. Use soap and water to lightly scrub counters and sinks afterwards, if they may come into contact with food. Silicone sprays sometimes contain small amounts of petroleum that act as a solvent when mixed with the silicone. You can purchase a petroleum-free product if this is a concern, or you can use a small amount of petroleum jelly to create the same sort of waterproof coating.

Wood Tables

If your cleaning service professional usually makes your wood kitchen table shine, then it may appear dull after a few messy dinners. You may turn to the tung or linseed oil to polish the surface, but these oils tend to evaporate quickly, leaving a sticky film behind that will then collect dust, crumbs, and other debris. This is true of vegetable and olive oils as well, plus these oils, along with substances made from nuts, will spoil over time. This can leave a rancid smell behind.

Mineral oil will replenish the water lost from the wood and return a shine to the surface. When mixed with vinegar, it can clean as well to release debris left behind. Mix about one cup of mineral oil with one-quarter cup of vinegar in a spray bottle. Add one-teaspoon of lemon extract or a few drops of lavender essential oil to the mix if you also want the spray to smell fresh. Shake the bottle before use, and spray it liberally across the surface of the table. Use a lint-free cloth to wipe it down afterwards.

If your furniture items are dull as well, then you can use the same sort of solution. However, clear wax may be a better choice. Using this type of wax to buff the surface of your furniture will leave a glossy shine behind.

Porcelain Sinks and Bathtubs

The trick to cleaning porcelain to keep it shining involves regular maintenance. This is wise to prevent stains and general discoloration. Also, avoid the use of abrasive agents like baking soda and scouring powders to reduce the amount of scratches and openings that form in the porcelain and allow debris to sit inside of them. Try to stay away from vinegar as well, because acids may destroy the finish. Instead of using these things, use a mild dish soap instead with a material that fights or dissolves grease. Mix about two-tablespoons of this soap with two cups of water in a spray bottle. Spray down porcelain surfaces every other day and allow the mixture to sit for 15 minutes.

Rinse away the soap, old soap scum, and other debris afterwards. You may need to gently scrub your tub or sink if debris does not loosen immediately.

If you don't want to do these maintenance tasks all the time, then consider booking an appointment with a cleaning service at a site like http://www.northstarpropertyservice.com.
